The story follows the lives of the residents of a small town in Long Island, Nick Carraway, the rrator, his vastly wealthy neighbour, Jay Gatsby, and Nick s cousin, Daisy Buchan, and her husband, Tom, who live across town from him. Nick, who served in the US army, moves to New York City and rents a house next to the luxurious Gatsby mansion. The longer he lives there, the more his fascition with Gatsby s lifestyle increases.
One day, Nick is invited to attend one of the lavish parties thrown by Gatsby. He decides to go and he soon learns that Gatsby and his cousin, Daisy, were once in love. He also learns of Tom s mistress, a woman med Myrtle Wilson. After getting acquainted with Gatsby, he learns that the parties and the opulence is just an attempt on Gatsby s behalf to draw the attention of Daisy. Gatsby asks Nick to reunite them, and unbeknownst to Daisy, he sets up a reunion between them. The duo eventually rekindle their romance and start seeing each other discreetly.
Tom becomes increasingly suspicious of Daisy, and a series of climactic events unfold at a luncheon at his house. Nick is a bystander in this scerio, watching the lives of the people around him slowly unravel. He can t help but feel disgusted at their lack of morality and rampant infidelity.
The Great Gatsby was first published in 1925, at which point it was not commercially viable. After the death of the author, the novel started gaining popularity around World War II. Till date, it has been adapted into six movies, and the opera. The Great Gatsby is now known as Fitzgerald s finest work, and remains to be a contender for the Great American Novel title.

    Good one overall but
The book itself is fine, nice print, decent sized text but the one main missing is a book mark. When you buy a book from any store in the world, a book mark is a must, that is like an essential and it wasn't included so I have mixed feelings about the seller.
